One and done.
According to sources, the legendary NFL quarterback Drew Bryce will not return to NBC after just one season as a studio and game analyst.
The decision seemed reciprocal, as Bryce preferred to play games on the studio show Football Night in America, and NBC didn’t have many NFL games to offer. NBC has impaired Bryce’s potential after initially believing he could succeed Chris Collinsworth in Sunday Night Football.
On the air, the 43-year-old Bryce had a rookie season, which was highlighted by a poor performance on his biggest show of the year, the Bengals-Raiders playoff game.
Although Bryce has finished with NBC, there is still a chance he will find himself in the NFL booth next year, as Fox still has to fill his top positions for game analysts this year, as Tom Brady will not start until did not finish the game.
Greg Olson and Fox have already begun discussions to make Olson the number one analyst, according to sources. No contract has been completed, but Olsen is about to stand next to Kevin Burkhard on Sunday at the Super Bowl.
Fox has the big game for two of the next three years. Olson and Burkhard were partners last season in the new year of Olson’s broadcast.
If Olson moves to the upper cabin, Fox will have room for number 2 and Bryce is considered a candidate. Jobs number 2 are not paid like concerts number 1, so Bryce will really have to want to call NFL games. There is a feeling that is still his desire.
Bryce could probably work with Joe Davis or Adam Amin on Team No. 2 on Fox, which he really calls playoff games. Amazon may also be a possible landing site for Brees.
Last year, Bryce called Notre Dame games with Mike Tiriko. He also made the prelude to Sunday Night Football and several NFL games.
