An Exeter man died after a Crediton motorcycle accident

Police have named a man who died in an A377 collision near Downs Mill last Thursday. The collision, which took place shortly after 9 pm in Crediton, involved a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Ford Fiesta.

The motorcyclist, 42-year-old Luke McLeod from Exeter, was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he later died. His relatives continue to be supported by specialists.

The road was closed for several hours while a forensic examination was carried out by specialists. The crash is believed to have occurred near a Ladd’s Computers store. Firefighters, an Devon Air ambulance and police officers are also said to have been present.

A police spokesman initially said: “The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The close relatives of the motorcyclist are informed and supported by a trained specialist police officer.

“Police officers from the traffic police team, supported by local officials, conducted a forensic investigation of the scene, introducing road closures and diversions. When that was over, the road was reopened.
