Arrest for murder after “disturbance in house” signal

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died after an attack in Tubrook.

Merseyside police confirmed that they were called shortly after 6:50 p.m., following a disturbance signal at Newham Drive’s house tonight, Sunday, May 15. Emergency services have arrived, but despite paramedics’ efforts, a man has been pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s relatives have been notified and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Police also confirmed tonight that they have arrested a 56-year-old man from Tubruk on suspicion of murder.

He has been detained and will be questioned by criminal investigators. An investigation has been launched and officers are on the scene while extensive video surveillance inspections are carried out, from house to house and forensic scientists.

Detective Inspector Catherine Cox said: “Our thoughts are primarily with the victim’s family tonight. His death, of course, would be a huge shock to them, as well as to the wider Tuebrook community.

“We are at an extremely early stage in this investigation and our staff is working to find out exactly what happened. Although we have already made an arrest, our investigations are ongoing and we would call on anyone with any information to come out so that those responsible can be brought to justice.

“If you were in the Newham Drive area around 6.50pm tonight and witnessed something or someone suspicious, please contact us. All the information you have may be vital to our inquiries. ”
