Sinn Fein President Mary Lou MacDonald has accused the UK government of “choreographing” with the DUP over the recent Stormont crisis.
“I will tell him [Boris Johnson] “It is unacceptable that the suspension of the establishment of the executive branch and the assembly is unacceptable,” she told the BBC.
“Boris Johnson needs to know that the other parties, the vast, vast majority of us, do not need vigorous talks to return to work or return to business in government. In fact, the DUP holds everyone else for ransom, and this is deeply unacceptable.
“We will also tell Boris Johnson that there was choreography between Downing Street and DUP in this game of events. We strongly believe that the Prime Minister has given cover to Jeffrey Donaldson and his party and their antics to hold everything back, and we will tell him very clearly that this must stop.
“There is no reason why the executive branch and the assembly cannot and will not meet and must work and work hard on behalf of the people.
