Police are dumping a suspect car in northeastern Edmonton

Officers removed a vehicle in northeastern Edmonton on Monday afternoon to end a “brief” police chase.

Three Edmonton Police Department cruisers were used to box a suspect who was driving a Chrysler 300 near the intersection of 153 Avenue and 45 Street.

One of the EPS vehicles, a white unmarked jeep, was hit in the driver’s door, causing the airbags to deploy.

According to EPS, employees initially responded to a gun complaint when the vehicle fled employees.

“Members made direct contact of the vehicle with the suspect vehicle,” said Landis Reichle, EPS spokesman. “Many suspects have been detained. The matter is under investigation.”

No casualties were reported to police, but paramedics conducted a “precautionary check” on an employee at the scene.

EPS’s major collision investigation unit closed 153 Avenue from Manning Drive to Miller Boulevard as officers investigated the scene.
