Behavior Interactive sheds some light on what lies ahead for the hugely popular horror franchise Dead by Daylight. One of the more surprising reports was a spinoff game that will take the horror series in a whole new direction – it’s a dating game.
I love you, Colonel Sanders! developer Psyop is working on a visual novel called Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim. Instead of desperately trying to avoid killers like The Trapper and The Spirit, you’ll be able to flirt with them on Killer Island. Just don’t expect to connect to licensed characters like Pyramid Head or Sadako from The Ring.
Behavior says the stories you’ll find in Hooked on You won’t be a canon, although they will offer a mix of humor, romance and – since it’s a DBD game – horror. The studio notes that many DBD fans have wanted a dating simulator in this universe. They also won’t have to wait too long to play it. Hooked on You will arrive on Steam this summer.
Many other DBD news came before the game’s sixth anniversary, including details on the next chapter, called Roots of Dread. It includes a new card called Garden of Joy, which is not as euphoric as its name suggests.
The last terrifying killer, Dragata, is an amorphous mass of limbs that can be teleported between lockers to catch the survivors unknowingly. Roots of Dread also introduces a new survivor named Haddie Kaur. PC players can try out the Public Test Build (PTB) chapter today. It will arrive on all platforms on June 7.
Looking ahead, Behavior has announced several more upcoming crossovers, including an unexpected one with Attack on Titan. The studio says fans wanted anime and manga-based content. The first partnership of its kind will soon feature 10 Attack on Titan-inspired teams for assassins and DBD survivors. These include Eren Yeager’s skin for Dwight, Hange-inspired vision for Zarina, and titanium armor equipment for The Oni.

In addition, DBD returns to the world of Resident Evil with another chapter based on this classic franchise. Nemesis, Jill Valentine and Leon C. Kennedy arrived last June, and more characters from the series will join them later this year as part of the Resident Evil: Project W chapter.
Elsewhere, Dead by Daylight Mobile receives a major update that will include changes to rankings, social systems, control layout, and visual presentation. Activity and remuneration systems are also being updated. The update recently debuted in Japan. It will appear in the US in a closed beta version in the next few weeks before a wider release.
Some changes are on the way to the main computer and console game. Behavior says he will soon rework about 40 killer and survivor bonuses to freshen things up. A new system to get people into games faster will reward those who line up for the role (survivor or killer) with fewer players.
Meanwhile, starting today at PTB, players can try out a useful new feature for preset settings. You can create custom charges with preferred benefits and clothing for assassins and survivors. This can help speed things up before you start a match.
