A 50-year-old Conservative MP has been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault.
The politician, whose name could not be named for legal reasons, was arrested yesterday for alleged crimes in London between 2002 and 2009. These include rape, indecent assault, sexual assault, abuse of trust and misconduct in public service.
Scotland Yard is investigating more than two years after a complaint in January 2020.
The whips believe that removing the MP from the party’s whip, naming him that way, would jeopardize the anonymity of the alleged victim or victims.
