Brian May and Sam Ryder join platinum anniversary headliners | Music

Twenty years after the famous explosion of God Save the Queen from the roof of Buckingham Palace, guitarist Brian May and his Queen colleagues will join British Eurovision star Sam Ryder among the main performers at the platinum anniversary concert, it was announced.

Queen and Adam Lambert will open the BBC platinum party at the Palace concert with a special performance marking the actual 70th anniversary of Queen’s throne.

May stole the show with his surprise appearance on the roof for the Golden Jubilee concert in June 2002. He said: “Twenty years after we played Queen’s glorious golden jubilee, we are very happy to be invited again. Then there was a moment when I was wondering … after the roof of Buckingham Palace, where can you go? Well, you’ll see. “

Alicia Keys, Niall Rodgers and Andrea Bocelli will also perform during the three-hour event, which will last two and a half hours on Saturday, June 4.

The band will also include Duran Duran, Bond composer Hans Zimmer, Ella Eyre, Craig David, Mabel, Elbow and George Ezra.

Ryder, who finished second at the Eurovision Song Contest in Italy on Saturday with the song Space Man, the UK’s best result in 24 years, will also perform live. Sir Elton John will appear in a pre-recorded performance.

Soul legend Diana Ross, who has not performed in the UK for 15 years, will close the event with a live performance. She said: “I have had the honor of meeting the Queen many times in my life, including when I was with my family.

The evening will feature performances by sports figures and stars on stage and screen, including Sir David Attenborough, Lady Julie Andrews, Stephen Fry, tennis player Emma Raducanu, former footballer David Beckham, Paralympic swimmer Eli Simmonds and the Royal Ballet. The dance troupe and the winners of Britain’s Got Talent Diversity will also perform.

The evening will highlight global themes that have emerged or evolved during the Queen’s reign, organizers said, and will include contributions from Britain and the British community to fashion, sports, the environment, pop music and musicals.

The last part will be curated by Andrew Lloyd Webber and will include a special performance by Hamilton creator Lynn-Manuel Miranda, plus performances by actors from The Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, Six, The Lion King and Joseph ”and“ The Amazing Multicolored Petty Ball ”.

The report will be hosted by Kirsty Young and Roman Kemp and will be attended by 22,000 people. Ten thousand tickets will be distributed to a public vote, with 7,500 for key workers, members of the armed forces, volunteers and philanthropists.
