The Audi RS4 Avant and Audi RS5 are included to offer improved dynamics and a stronger soundtrack in a new, limited edition Competition.
Hardcore new variants of the sports station wagon and its coupe brother will arrive at German dealerships in July, but Autocar understands that Audi is still deciding whether to bring the new arrivals to the UK or not.
The upgrades bring unique stylistic touches to everyone and a package of mechanical improvements, with the more expensive Competition Plus package being the most differentiated from standard cars.
Competition cars are marked with black badges, matte carbon-colored exterior trim and extra black rims in an individual design that can be packed in Pirelli P Zero Corsa sticky tires.
The interior is decorated in a similar way with black decorative elements.
However, chassis modifications most clearly distinguish Competition.
The ride height is reduced by 10 mm compared to the standard and can be reduced by another 10 mm manually. Spring speeds have been increased, stabilizers have been hardened and three-way adjustable shock absorbers have been fitted to “enhance the overall driving experience and help reduce lap time”.
Audi claims that the improved differential further increases productivity when driving, thanks to the tuning of the drive unit, which sends more power back into corners.
Power from the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 remains 444 hp, but the straight-line speed has been slightly improved as the gearbox is tuned to deliver faster gears.
The RS5 Competition accelerates from 0-100 km / h in just 3.8 seconds – an improvement of 0.1 seconds – while the RS4 Avant Competition reduces sprint time by 0.2 seconds to 3.9 seconds.
The package completes a custom-made RS sports muffler with matte black tips, which is less insulated from the body and thus gives a “more intense sound model”.
A by-product of this is a small weight loss of 8 kg.
