The Ontario Liberal leader reiterated his support for the proposed “Our London Family Act” – a bill that is close to home for Londoners.
Stephen Del Duca visited the fierce ride of London’s North Center on Wednesday night, speaking at the parents’ home of Liberal candidate Kate Graham.
He raised the Liberal Party platform to a tent full of party loyalists, then answered questions from reporters.
The proposed “Our London Family Law” aims to combat Islamophobia in light of the alleged attack that killed four members of a Muslim family and injured a child last June 6. The bill, which was introduced by the NDP, died by paper order when the election was called.
Del Duca said the bill was not for partisanship, then criticized the Ford government for not supporting it.
“And we have already made a commitment that if we are elected, we will present and pass the Law on our London family,” Del Duca said. “Let me just say, deeply, deeply disappointingly, that despite the fact that they had a majority in the legislature and had months to be ready for it, Ford’s conservatives chose not to pass this law.
