Bay Mills will reopen after an electric fire

Bay Mills will officially open on Friday at 3 p.m.

Bay Mills Resort & Casino is ready to resume operations after an electric fire earlier this week.

The fire caused problems with the telephone system, ATMs, gaming systems and other electrical components in the casino.

The following is a full announcement from Bay Mills on reopening:

On May 20 at 15:00 Bay Mills Resort & Casino will resume its work and reopen to the public.

BMRC was forced to close earlier this week due to an electric fire that wreaked havoc on many computer systems, including the hotel reservation system and the gaming casino.

The IT department was able to successfully restore telephone lines, ATMs, gaming systems, credit card processing and surveillance systems. Initial testing shows that the hotel reservation system may be permanently damaged. A replacement has been ordered, but it is not yet known when this system will be up and running again.

BMRC will still greet hotel guests using good old-fashioned paper and pen. You can contact the BMRC at: (888) 422-9645 or online.

Carrying out the repairs is a huge effort for the IT department and the BMRC staff who work around the clock.

“The damage, albeit limited, has hit us where it hurts,” said BMIC chairman Whitney Gravel. “I can’t thank our teams enough for their long hours and dedication to the Indian community of Bay Mills.

Although all telephone lines have been repaired, some technical difficulties may arise in testing the systems.

“We also appreciate the patience and prayers of our guests, community members and staff during this time,” Gravel added.
