Kate McKinnon, Eddie Bryant and Kyle Mooney leave Pete Davidson – deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Saturday Night Live is set for its biggest change in several years.

Deadline understands that a number of longtime stars, including Kate McKinnon, Eddie Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson, are expected to leave the show later this season.

This comes after creator Lorne Michaels admitted that he expects this year to be a “year of change” for the show.

We hear that there may be a large farewell group, including the four departing, at the end of tomorrow’s episode, hosted by Natasha Lyon.

Not surprisingly, this season – season 47 – included its largest cast of 21 stars and eight cast members entering their eighth season and beyond.

In addition to McKinnon, Davidson, Bryant and Mooney, those who have been on the show for eight or more seasons include Michael Che, Colin Jost, Cecily Strong and Kenan Thompson, who is the longest-serving actor in the show’s history.

Last summer, Beck Bennett was the only big trip with Lauren Holt.

Davidson, whose release was interrupted by Deadline Variety’s sister, has been with SNL since 2014 as one of the youngest members of the cast. He has become one of the show’s breakthrough stars in recent years, co-writing and starring in The King of Staten Island and co-creating and co-starring with Eddie Falco as his mother in Bupkis, which recently starred in the series order at Peacock.

The latter is an executive producer from Lorne Michaels, with whom Davidson will continue to maintain contact.

Before the finale, Davidson’s latest SNL sketch was a pre-recorded music track called Short-Ass Movie, along with rapper Gunna, actor Simon Rex and Chris Red.

He is largely absent this season, appearing in only a few episodes while filming features including The Home. He also has a very high-profile relationship with Kim Kardashian.

Michaels is becoming more flexible in allowing his SNL stars to appear in other projects, most of which he produces himself, which means that actors no longer have to leave the show to play other roles. as it has been in the past.

McKinnon has been on the show since 2012 and was promoted to repertoire in Season 39 in 2013, becoming one of the show’s other major stars.

It has long been rumored that she will leave in the last few years, but continues to return, though not as regularly as in the past. Last week, she opened the show with Nicole Wallace.

McKinnon recently took some time off the show to film Tiger King’s Joe vs. Carol for Peacock, starring Carol Baskin.

Bryant joined the show in 2012 and was promoted in her second season. She played characters like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Ted Cruz.

In the same way, she comes and goes recently, starring in three seasons of Michaels-exec producer Shrill for Hulu.

Meanwhile, Mooney, who recently played Johnny Depp in an episode last week, has been on the show since 2013 and was promoted to the repertoire at the beginning of the 41st season.

A SNL spokesman did not comment.
