Mysterious foam erupts from Cambridge, Ont. road lane

The city of Cambridge is investigating after a mysterious foam erupted from the intersection of Fountain Street and King Street twice in the last 24 hours.

A video posted on social media at 12:50 a.m. Friday showed white matter being fired from the asphalt. Another video, released seven minutes later, shows vehicles moving through the foam.

The city of Cambridge said that this also happened on Thursday night.

In an email, the city said the foam was generated in the sewer system and then exited through the covers of several maintenance holes in the roadway.

The teams responded and at 2 pm the foam stopped and the cleaning is in progress, the city announced.

Employees are investigating possible upstream sources for possible reasons and will continue to monitor the situation.

The city said the local drinking water system remains safe.
