The Edmonton Elks play Cardale Jones

The era of Cardale Jones with the Edmonton Elks will not happen after all.

The team announced the release of the former quarterback, who won the Ohio National Championship, on Friday in a series of transactions.

Offensive line-up Chris Gangarosa has been placed on the retirement list, while broad-based successor Michael Walker has been removed from the list.

Rank back Sherman Buddy has been added to the active list.

The 29-year-old Jones was signed by the team on April 26, the same day that the Elks released his former QB teammate JT Barrett.

The Cleveland-born appeared in an NFL game for the Buffalo Bills in 2016 and later played the 2020 season with the XFL’s DC Defenders after spending time on the Los Angeles Chargers and Seattle Seahawks’ roster.

Elks’ training camp continues next week with the team’s first pre-season match, scheduled for May 27 against Gray Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
