Since its release in October 2021, Josh Wardle’s Wordle seems to have become the most popular word game on the Internet.
Every day, a new five-letter word is the answer to the challenge, and players must guess it in up to six attempts. The word is the same for all players on the same calendar day, and there is no clue except for the letters themselves, which change color depending on where they are in the word – and whether they are in the word at all.
While Wordle can be a simple challenge most days, there are times when it can get stuck. You may have found two or three letters, but you have no idea what your next guess should be, either because you can’t remember a single word with that particular combination, or because there are too many choices. There are not many options, but you will still need to narrow down the list to get the right answer. The first thing you can do is check all the letters that look gray in your previous assumptions, and then remove all the words that contain any of them. The second tip is to avoid plural forms. These are valid assumptions if you need them, but Wordle will never choose a plural form in response to an everyday puzzle.
