Johnny Depp’s $ 50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard will resume on Monday for testimony last week.
Last week, jurors were shown love notes written by Hurd to Depp in 2015. The notes describe the Pirates of the Caribbean star as a friend Hurd fell in love with.
The Aquaman actress shared her feelings for Depp in her letter, writing: “True love is not just about the madness of passion or choosing the security of peace instead. No, it’s about having both. To fall madly in love with your friend. ”
Flashing over Depp, Hurd continued, “You’re the last thing in the world you deserve, [the] the last person I ever wanted to hurt. I love you, Steve. I am yours forever. XX Slim. ”
But many are wondering about the nicknames mentioned in the couple’s correspondence.
The actor’s full name is John Christopher Depp II, so the nickname “Steve” obviously has nothing to do with his name. Suitable for a couple who met while working on set, the nicknames come from the 1944 film To Have and Not to Have.
The film stars Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart in the lead roles, and their characters are called Slim and Steve, respectively.
Just like Hurd and Depp, the fictional characters have a big age mismatch (Depp is 22 years older than her). However, when explaining the nickname during his testimony last month, Depp outlined the origins of the two nicknames.
“I was the old rock gods, and she was this beautiful creature, this stunning creature,” he told the court.
In recent days, love notes have become a key part of the process, allegedly giving an idea of the relationship between the two actors while they were together in 2015.
