Instead of “It’s Morphine Time”, an actor from the TV show Mighty Mophin Power Rangers can leave.
Austin St. John, who played the red Power Ranger in the show, which aired from 1993 to 1995, has been accused by others of a US government-funded scheme to defraud the United States.
The Justice Department says St. John is one of 18 people accused of fraudulent loan applications from the Salary Protection Program. It is alleged that they transferred the money to the organizers of the scheme.
St. John, whose real name is Jason Geiger, is said to have received more than $ 400,000 in fraudulent PPP loans. According to the Ministry of Justice, he faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years.
The Justice Department has named Michael Hill and Andrew Moran as alleged leaders of the scheme.
“Hill is said to have hired conspirators to use an existing business or set up a business to apply for PPP funding,” according to a press release from the Ministry of Justice. “After being enrolled, it is alleged that Moran helped his conspirators with the application documents, including the preparation of supporting documentation and submitting the application through online portals.
