A scrap truck overturned and dumped its cargo near the Rocket overpass early this morning (Saturday).
The driver got rid of cuts and abrasions after the accident around 5.20 today. The overturned vehicle left the road littered with scrap and other debris and closed the M62 in both directions between J4 (for The Rocket) and J5 (for Huyton).
Emergency services were present at the scene and warned that restoring the car and clearing up the mess was likely to be a “lengthy operation”.

An eyewitness said: “The driver was fine. Cuts and bruises, but sat on the side of the road around 6:30 a.m., talking to police and an ambulance. It happened around 5:20, I think. “

Northwest Highway Police said on their social media account: “We currently have the M62 closed in both directions from the rocket to junction 5, while we find an overturned LGV – this will probably be a lengthy operation – no access to the M62 from Bowring Park.”
