Suspected driver arrested after crashing into Poultry Cross in Salisbury

A 20-year-old man was arrested after crashing into Poultry Cross in Salisbury in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, May 21).

Wiltshire police say the man driving the Audi A3 failed to stop for police and after a brief chase, the car crashed into The Poultry Cross on Butcher Row shortly before 12.45am.

The building and the car were damaged.

The man was arrested on suspicion of not stopping for the police, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving above the prescribed limit for alcohol and criminal damage.

The driver and two passengers in the car were not injured.

Wiltshire police say the man remains in custody and the investigation into the incident continues.
