After partnering with Zynga last year, TikTok is testing a pair of mobile mini-games on its platform in Vietnam, Reuters reported. This move may soon allow users to play games directly in the app, which Reuter sources called a “big boost” in games.
TikTok has confirmed that it is testing HTML5 games in its application through partnerships with Zynga and other third-party developers. It is reported that it plans to launch ad-supported games drawing on TikTok’s parent’s ByteDance library to increase revenue and engagement. “We are always looking for ways to enrich our platform and regularly test new features and integrations that bring value to our community,” a Reuters spokesman said in an email.
Last year, TikTok announced a partnership with Zynga for an app called Disco Loco 3D (above), an HTML5 app that can run inside the app. The company also created Garden of Good, a FarmVille-style mini-game that allows players to earn points to make donations.
While ByteDance is starting with mini-games, it is supposed to plan to go beyond that, probably in more advanced types of games. The Chinese version of the game, Douyin, now offers games, and TikTok is also testing streaming through its Live Studio PC app. The company has more than a billion users worldwide and has forecast $ 11 billion in advertising revenue this year, more than Twitter and Snap combined.
