A couple from Wisconsin kill a bear that attacked them in their home

A couple from Wisconsin say they killed a bear that attacked them in their home after they spotted her eating from their bird feeder.

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office said the attack took place around 11pm on Friday at a home near Medford in north-central Wisconsin. The couple told authorities that the bear jumped out of a window after they shouted for her to leave.

Both husband and wife were injured before they could stab the bear with a kitchen knife. Eventually, the man managed to grab a firearm and kill the animal.

The man and woman were treated in hospital for several bites and other injuries before being released. The couple’s children were sleeping in their bedrooms at the time and were unharmed.

The sheriff’s office said the bear was an elderly female and a child had been seen fleeing while the bear fled home. Wildlife officials took the bear for testing. Authorities did not specify which bear it was.
