DC officially had its first 90-degree day for 2022 today. We failed to set high temperature records, but we will probably set record low temperatures after the day is over. Abnormally warm temperatures continue at night and on Sunday. But the afternoon and evening rains and thunderstorms on Sunday will provide at least some relief.

until tonight: Temperatures should start to drop by the 80’s as we approach sunset. The clouds will also increase, with separate precipitations possible before midnight. During the night the rains will become more scattered in nature, but not everyone will see rain. Minimum temperatures will be 70 to 73 degrees, with a southwest wind of 5-10 miles per hour.

tomorrow (Sunday): The heat will intensify again in mostly sunny skies in the first half of the day. The clouds are moving until the afternoon, and between 4 and 9 pm there will be a threat of widespread rain and thunderstorms. The high temperatures will be similar to today’s, ranging from 90 to 94 degrees. On Sunday night it will be mostly cloudy with “cooler” temperatures of 60 to 65 degrees.

Tornado in Northwest Germany: Extremely warm temperatures caused unstable air masses to cause widespread severe weather in large parts of Germany on Friday, including some rather powerful tornadoes in the northwestern part of the country. Dozens of people were injured in the city of Paderborn when a particularly violent tornado tore through a heavily populated area.
