Jurgen Klopp refuses to remove Tiago from Champions League final despite hamstring problem

Jürgen Klopp refuses to remove Tiago from the Champions League final and urges worried fans to “wait and see” … although he acknowledged that the Liverpool midfielder’s injury was “not good” after he was forced to drop out against the Wolves.

  • Thiago Alcantara was eliminated in added time in the first half at the home of the Wolves
  • The 31-year-old was excellent until then and assisted on Liverpool’s first goal
  • He was replaced by James Milner when Liverpool came from behind to beat the Wolves
  • Thiago already has doubts about the Champions League final next Saturday in Paris

Thiago Alcantara will be given every chance to prove that he is fit for the Champions League final on Saturday night after receiving suspicion of hamstring damage.

The 31-year-old Spanish midfielder has been a great player for Liverpool in recent months and he was the reason they returned to the game against the Wolves, and his glorious blow to the throat created an opportunity for Sadio Mane to equalize.

Bruno Lage’s well-punched side had difficulty following Tiago into the pockets of space from which he sought to inflict damage.

But there was a collective air intake before the half-time at Anfield yesterday when he waved to the bench and left the field.

Tiago was replaced by James Milner at half-time and came out of the locker room 20 minutes after the second period. The midfielder was wearing a suit and had a large strap on his right thigh.

Jurgen Klopp did not want to go into details about the nature of the injury – Tiago will be scanned today – but the Liverpool manager was careful not to completely exclude him from the clash with Real Madrid.

“It’s not good, but I can’t say more,” Klopp said. “He was out with the families and had his little girl on his shoulders so he could walk – that’s obviously a good sign. Everything else … we’ll see tomorrow.

Asked about the nature of the injury, Klopp replied: “Lower body! I know, but I don’t really want to talk about it.

‘We will see. Give us a chance. This makes the news neither better nor worse.

“We want to wait until we find out more about this, and then you will receive the information.”

Injuries have become the subject of the last torment of this season for Liverpool.

Virgil van Dyke interrupted the match with the Wolves due to a knee problem in the FA Cup final against Chelsea last Saturday, while midfielder Fabinho did not play by limping against Aston Villa 13 days ago.

Jurgen Klopp will desperately want to be ready in time for their clash with Real Madrid

Both are expected to start against Madrid, but definitely out of the lineup for the trip to Paris is Divok Origi, who received an emotional farewell with an honor guard.

The Belgian striker, who scored such big goals for Klopp, leaves next month.

“Div is definitely out for the final because he had an injury in the last second of training yesterday, there was a muscle injury,” said Klopp, who described Origi as a “legend.” “Five days won’t be enough.” Besides, I hope Tiago has a chance.
