A large majority of Americans are fed up with President Biden running the country and have no faith that things will improve soon – sentiment that could prove catastrophic for Democrats in the upcoming by-elections, according to a poll released Sunday.
Nearly 8 out of 10 voters – 77% – say things in America are “somewhat” or “very” bad, 69% say the economy is “fair” or “very” bad, and 56% disapprove of how Biden is doing. with his presidential election duties, according to a study by CBS News / YouGov.
Only 44% approve of Biden’s work.
Asked about their expected outlook in the coming months, 68% say they are pessimistic about the economy, 77% say the same about rising commodity prices, 67% are worried about the stock market and 57% are concerned about their retirement plans.
But Americans are optimistic about fighting the coronavirus (53%) and jobs in their community (52%).
Faced with inflation rates peaking at 40-year highs and the price of gas rising to $ 5 a gallon, respondents were asked what Biden described.
The survey found that 77% of participants were “pessimistic” about rising prices for goods and services in the coming months.
Fifty-seven percent say “distracted,” 51 percent say “incompetent,” 47 percent say “split,” while 45 percent say they are “competent,” and 40 percent say they are “focused.”
But 65% say he is slow to respond to “important issues and events” that arise – including 37% of Democrats.
The survey found that 35% thought he was dealing with the problem immediately.

Asked to describe Democrats in one word, 51% of voters chose “weak”, 49% chose “extreme”, 39% said “in contact”, 38% chose “strong” and 36% said “effective”.
Of the Republicans, 54% say “extreme”, 50% say “hateful”, 46% say “strong”, 41% choose “weak” and 37% say “caring”.

Democrats now control both the Senate and the House of Representatives, but those majorities are ready to grab the midterm elections in November, when Republicans hope a red wave will bring them back to power in Congress.
On the issues, Republicans want their candidates to focus on: tackling inflation (90%), stopping illegal immigration (89%) and talking about traditional values (86%).

Asked about abortion – 83% of Democrats want their nominees to defend the rights enshrined in Roe v. Wade, and 59% of Republicans want their candidates to oppose abortion.
The study surveyed 2,041 adults between May 18-20.
