Police released an update after a man was found wounded in downtown Nottingham

Police issued a new statement after an attack in downtown Nottingham that left a man in hospital. Clinton Street East was stuck at its intersection with Lower Parliament Street after the incident around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21.

Police first thought that the injuries inflicted by the man could change his life – now they have confirmed that they are not life-threatening or changing. They say they are continuing to investigate what happened and believe it is an isolated incident with no greater risk to the public.

People at the place yesterday [May 21] expressed concern over another police incident in central Nottingham. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact the police to help with the ongoing investigation.

Nottinghamshire Police Detective Sergeant John Kerry said: “We learned of the alleged attack after a man approached patrol officers on Lower Parliament Street in central Nottingham shortly after 3:30 a.m. on May 21.

“Officers immediately approached the wounded man and he was taken to hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are now not considered life-threatening or life-changing.

“A cordon was set up around the area where he approached the police, but was then removed. We would like to reassure the community that we are conducting an in-depth investigation into what happened and we believe that this is an isolated incident with no greater risk to members of society.

“We would ask anyone who may have seen something suspicious around this area at the time to call us 101 or talk to a patrol officer. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 102 on May 21, 2022, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
