Raymond Moody’s friend says she’s standing next to him

RAYMOND’s girlfriend Moody says she’s standing next to him – even though they were together when he “raped and killed” 17-year-old Brittany Drexel.

The teenager’s remains were found last week in a remote location, more than 13 years after she disappeared in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina during a spring break with friends.

Brittany Drexel, 17, who went missing during a spring break in South Carolina in 2009.

Authorities say they have arrested 62-year-old Raymond Moody at his home in Georgetown County and he is accused of rape, murder and kidnapping.

Moody confessed to the crime and took police to her remains, according to lawmakers, but has not yet made a formal charge.

In a shocking twist, the suspect appears to be living a double life, as he has a longtime partner of “almost 15 years”, 54-year-old Angel Vause, who lives in their shared home.

Asked if she still supports him, she told The Sun exclusively: “Well, of course I will.”

Through tears, she continued, “I’m shocked, I’m stunned, but I don’t really know this side of him. I know the man who was with me. He was fantastic to me.”

Moody is said to have caused Brittany’s death by manual strangulation on or about April 25, 2009, although the full cause of death has not yet been revealed.

He is also alleged to have sexually harassed the teenager that night, according to orders.

Moody has long been a suspect in the case, and he told a News13 reporter back in 2011 that it had nothing to do with her disappearance.

Asked why she stood by him despite the investigation, his partner Angel said: “I mean, they never had anything, they dumped everything, let him go.

“So nothing happened again until a week or two before he was arrested.”

Asked if she was worried people would think she knew about the murder, she insisted she was well known in the area and friends and family supported her story.

Although she did not part with Moody, Angel, who works as a nurse, said she was heartbroken for Brittany’s family, revealing: “I lost a 16-year-old child in a car accident.

“I am just happy for my family. Very sorry. But as I said, I didn’t know that part of him.

“I would describe him as a kind, gentle man who gave you the shirt from his back. He loved it.”

Information from the National Register of Sex Offenders has revealed that Moody was serving a sentence for rape, kidnapping, fornication or lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 and sodomy while in California.

Moody was convicted in December 1983 and released on parole in 2004.

He failed to register as a sex offender in 2009 and was convicted in 2010 under a SLED criminal investigation.

In 2008, he was also arrested for indecent exposure.

MOODY’S DARK PAST

Asked about his time in prison, Angel insisted: “I didn’t know any of this when I first met him. I met him later.

“I learned from someone else who knew him the whole story, he had told me part of it. We had been involved for several years.”

But she says she still decided to stay with him because he was a different man in their relationship, refusing to comment further on his past or the murder of Brittany.

“It really is my mother’s worst nightmare. “Today I grieve for my beautiful daughter, as I have for the last 13 years,” said Brittany’s mother Dawn Plekon after the news broke.

“We are much closer to the peace I had hoped for.”

Brittany, a native of New York, was last seen on April 25, 2009, and video surveillance footage captured her leaving Blue Water Resort.

Her last text was to her friend, who had returned to New York. He responded to the message.

But she could not answer and 10 minutes later her partner called Brittany’s mother, who reported the case to the police.

A pair of sunglasses similar to those belonging to Brittanee have been found, but the accessory cannot be linked to the teenager.

Jimmy Richardson, a 15th District Attorney, said: “People keep telling us certain things about the case. Sometimes there is nothing for him. Sometimes it is the holy grail.

The case seemed to freeze until 2016 until the recent breakthrough.

Moody was detained at the Georgetown County Detention Center without bail.

A date has not yet been set for his next appearance in court.
