The Northumberland OPP and Port Hope police are conducting a joint investigation into the death of a Port Hope resident.
Police said the body was found in the city on Thursday afternoon.
The body has been identified as that of 29-year-old Madison Chard, who was reported missing on April 21 and is likely a victim of human trafficking.
An autopsy will be performed on May 21 at the Center for Forensic Science in Toronto.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Division and the Central Region Forensic Identification Services Division continue the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Division and in conjunction with the Port Hope Police Department and the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario.
