KELIS MOUNTAIN – A man from Sydney died after his motorcycle crashed into a car late Saturday afternoon on Trans-Canadian Highway 105 in Mount Kellis near St. Anne’s Luoof and Ingletown.
The RCMP of Victoria County closed the highway for several hours as police, fire and ambulance crews responded to the scene around 4:42 pm on Saturday around the top of Mount Kelis, according to an RCMP Sgt spokesman. Andrew Joyce.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 53-year-old man from Sydney, was pronounced dead on the spot, while the four passengers in the car – the driver, confirmed as a 45-year-old woman from Cape Breton – did not appear injured, Joyce said.
Traffic had to be diverted back in both directions while a collision reconstruction specialist was present at the scene.
Shortly before 11 pm, the RCMP tweeted that Highway 105 was reopened.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, as the investigation continues, the statement said. No other details were available.
