AMD ‘Mendocino’ APU: 6nm + Zen 2 CPU + RDNA 2 GPU for laptops in Q4

AMD will host its Computex 2022 in a few hours, where we should get acquainted with the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 processors, X670E / X670 / B650 chipsets and Mendocino APU for laptops.

It is reported that the new AMD APU “Mendocino” will combine Zen 2 CPU cores with RDNA 2 GPU, with 4 cores and 8 threads of CPU power at its disposal. AMD will make its new APNC 6nm processor APU and design the 10+ hours of mixed-use battery life expected from Mendocino-powered laptops on a daily basis.

AMD will “redefine the everyday laptop” when it launches its new Mendocino APU, with chip-using laptops phasing out in the fourth quarter of 2022. We’re looking at low-power mass-market laptops – hence “everyday” laptops. AMD promises prices ranging from $ 399 to $ 699 for Mendocino-powered laptops, with Windows and ChromeOS expected.

AMD uses TSMC’s 6nm process node, the second chip after the Navi 24 GPU inside the lower-end threat to the lower-end Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card released earlier this year.
