Ottawa Storm: Schools closed Tuesday as cleanup continues

All primary and secondary schools in Ottawa will be closed on Tuesday as clean-up continues from Saturday’s powerful storm.

The Ottawa Carlton School Board and the Ottawa Catholic School Board announced Monday afternoon that all schools will be closed on Tuesday and there will be no virtual training. Both councils are working to reopen schools on Wednesday.

The closure is coming as tens of thousands of homes and businesses are without electricity in Ottawa, and several roads have been closed due to damaged power lines and debris.

The Ottawa Carlton School Board says all schools and childcare programs will be closed on Tuesday and there will be no distance learning.

OTTAVA CATHOLIC SCHOOL SET

ALGONKIN COLLEGE

Algonquin College says all classes and services – virtual and personal – were canceled Tuesday for the Ottawa campus.

“All Ottawa campus employees who are not directly involved in recovery operations or have not been directly advised by their manager to attend campus work should stay home on Tuesday,” Algonquin College said in a statement Monday.
