10:15 am – The forecast for the weekend is more uncertain
As we have mentioned in the last few days, there is great uncertainty in the forecast for the weekend, especially on Saturday and Sunday. The American model (GFS) advertised occasional rains, while the European model until last night predicted dry, sunny weather. Unfortunately, the European model seems to lend itself to the idea of the American model and is now showing more clouds and rain for Saturday and Sunday. Both models suggest that the probability of rain should be a lesson by Monday, but even then we may not be completely out of the woods. This does not mean that the weekend will be a wash, just the rain can be an inconvenience at times. We will have more details in future updates as the weekend approaches.
Somewhat subjective assessment of the time of day for a scale from 0 to 10.
3/10: Crying uncle, as we have had enough; more May rain is mainly a pain.
- today: It’s raining, it’s roaring in the evening. Maximum: 64 to 69.
- Tonight: Cloudy, local rain. Low: 55 to 60.
- tomorrow: Cloudy with a chance of rain. Maximum: 65 to 70.
The second wettest May in Washington in a decade doesn’t need any help, but here we are again with more periods of rain and rain over the next few days. Remembrance Day weekend should bring warmer air and sunnier skies, but a dry forecast is still far from key.
Today (Tuesday): The rain stopped this morning with the most stable activity south and east of the city. The rain should decrease to light rain or roar by this afternoon, as the maximums are struggling to reach the mid-60s. The additional rainfall is mostly less than 0.25 inches, although our far southern areas may take a little more. Light breeze from east to 5 mph. Confidence: Medium
Tonight: Prolonged low pressure keeps the clouds and this cool sea air mass in place, with possible rain spots and light rains. The lows range from the mid-50s to about the 60s with light winds from the east and northeast. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Wednesday): The adhering clouds continue due to the low pressure stopped along the east coast against the background of a cool breeze from the east (5 to 10 mph). There is still light rain or light rain. The highs are again cooler than normal from the mid-60s to nearly 70. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: Cloudy skies, with minimum values set in the upper 50s to low 60s. Light rain or rain is still possible. Confidence: Medium
Thursday is characterized by the removal of coastal low pressure and the entry of a new low pressure zone from the Midwest. Some partly sunny breaks could be observed on Thursday morning, before the clouds rose again in the afternoon with possible intermittent rains or storms. Provided that a warm front is able to push the area, the maximum should return by the mid-70s to about 80. There is an external chance to stay cloudy and cooler. Rainfall and storms become more likely on Thursday night in cloudy skies with low values ranging until the 60s. Confidence: Medium
Friday includes more precipitation and thunderstorms in mostly cloudy skies and maximum temperatures from the upper 70 to about 80. We may be able to cope with partial clearing until late in the day. Several clouds may remain on Friday night with low temperatures from the upper 50’s to the low 60’s. Confidence: Medium
IN Festive weekend of Remembrance Day is ready to take advantage of the sunnier skies and seasonal to high temperatures every day. The maximum values close to 80 on Saturday should reach the low to the mid 80’s on Sunday with the middle to the upper 80 potentially until the holiday on Monday. The lows should vary every night until the 60’s against the background of partly cloudy skies. A possible wrinkle is that some forecasts of computer models stop the low pressure from Thursday to Friday near the East Coast over the weekend, which would keep it cooler and wetter. We will follow this situation closely. Confidence: low-medium
