Mo Brooks used footage of herself after the mass shooting in an advertising campaign
The main primary in several US states today will see high-ranking Republican candidates face each other and, in some cases, try to triumph over rivals backed by Donald Trump.
In Georgia, incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp appears ready to defeat his main rival, Trump supporter and former Senator David Purdue, whose campaign failed to ignite despite loud interference from the former president. Mike Pence is campaigning for Mr. Kemp.
Georgia’s GOP Senate primary, meanwhile, will almost certainly see the nomination of controversial former footballer Herschel Walker, a very popular figure whose sometimes unstable behavior, business dealings and history of personal problems have led some Republicans to worry he might fail to win. Democrat Rafael Warnock in November.
And in Alabama, Congressman Mo Brooks appears to be returning to the Republican Senate race, although he lost Mr Trump’s approval earlier this year. At the time, he was engrossed in polls and also called on his supporters to start “moving forward” in the 2020 elections, thus provoking Mr Trump’s disregard. However, he continued to campaign with photos of himself in front of the White House on January 6, 2021.

Watch: Cruz campaigns for Brooks despite Trump’s disapproval
Just as Mike Pence advocated for Brian Camp in Georgia yesterday in direct opposition to Donald Trump’s support for David Purdue, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has followed in the footsteps of Alabama congressman and Senate nominee Mo Brooks, who lost earlier this year. the support of the former president after he began to decline in the polls.
Mr Brooks responded by sharing the alarming statement that Mr Trump had repeatedly asked friends and colleagues about the possibility of being reappointed as president in some way between now and the next election.
Here is a video of Mr Cruz advocating for an abandoned representative who appears to have had a late rally in the race.

Who is Brian Kemp?
Georgia’s Brian Kemp may become known at least after Tuesday as the man who did the impossible: he defeated a candidate backed by Donald Trump in the Republican primary in the far south.
This certainly seems to be the case as the incumbent governor enters Tuesday’s primary with a double-digit lead over David Purdue, Trump’s aide who appears poised to inflict his first defeat on the former president in the 2022 primary season.

Who is Herschel Walker?
Republican voters in Georgia appear to be choosing Herschel Walker, a former NFL player who was already popular before Donald Trump approved his campaign, as his Senate candidate.
Mr Walker voted strongly against incumbent Democrat President Rafael Warnock, who was elected in a special run-off in early 2020. he also worries that his personal baggage may be too large for many voters to swallow in the general election.
He faces charges of domestic violence two decades ago when his then-girlfriend told police he threatened to “blow her head off” during an argument. However, he told Axios last year that he was “responsible” for his previous violent behavior.

Trump supporter Purdue received a last-minute greeting with racist remarks
David Purdue, the former senator Donald Trump backed to face Brian Kemp in Georgia, looks set to lose heavily in the state primary today, but he is retiring from all stops in the final hours of the race – and indulging in a few old-fashioned racism aimed at Stacey Abrams, who is running for governor on the Democrats.
This is not the first time Mr Perdue has nominated a candidate for non-whiteness of color to make a contrast. In 2020, while fighting in what turned out to be a lost Senate battle against Democrat John Osoff, Mr Purdue deliberately mispronounced Kamala Harris at comedy rallies.

Primaries in Texas will test the appropriateness of the abortion decision
The disputed primary election on the Texas border will test the appropriateness of abortion as an issue ahead of the November general election.
Unusual for the Democrats’ primary, the battle between Jessica Cisneros and Henry Cuellar, the incumbent congressman, has focused on the issue, as Mr Cuellar remains the last Democrat against abortion in the House.
The race took on new significance after a draft Supreme Court ruling earlier in May indicated the court could soon overturn Rowe v. Wade.

The progressive state senator is launching a campaign to reprimand the DCCC chairman
Progressives open fire on Sean Patrick Maloney, the party-bound Speaker of the House of Commons, after Mr Maloney refused to run for a seat in Congress believed to be at risk in November for a chance instead, run for a seat currently held by another Democrat.
New York Sen. Alessandra Biaggi announced on Monday that she is launching a primary campaign against Mr Maloney for the newly redesigned seat. She already has the support of a congressman from New York, angered by Mr Maloney’s apparent willingness to remove another congressman from the Democrats to save his own skin, and may receive more approval from members of the congressional delegation in a few days.
The situation is worrying for Mr Maloney, who as chairman of the Democrats’ campaign is likely to face questions about why he chose to fight a Democrat in the mid-election year instead of a Republican.

Could Mo Brooks’ jump hit Donald Trump a second time on Tuesday?
Donald Trump is probably already preparing for the defeat of his chosen candidate in the primary election for governor of Georgia on Tuesday. But in neighboring Alabama, rising Mo Brooks may be ready to inflict a double defeat.
According to a poll published late last week, the congressman is increasing in the race and is now only a few percentage points behind Katie Britt, the leader. Mrs Britt or Mr Brooks will need 50 per cent to avoid a run-off in June, and if Mr Brooks comes out before Mrs Britt tomorrow, it could be a serious sign that Donald Trump’s support is not the powerful force that was before.
