Each new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has a big hook to attract audiences, and for Thor: Love & Thunder, that hook comes in the form of a Jane Foster. Natalie Portman’s scientist is not seen by Thor: The Dark World of 2013, but here she is, mastering Thor’s old hammer (Chris Hemsworth) Mölnir and defeating monsters no different from her thunderous ex. What’s the deal with that?
New trailer for the sequel to Taika Whitey for Thor: Ragnarok gives some idea of Jane’s new life, along with a larger showcase of what she is capable of. (Spoiler: includes a lot of lightning and hammers.) For those who have become fans of the character since Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman turned her into the God of Thunder in 2013, this new trailer offers a lot of excitement and also irritates interesting dynamics. between Jane and Thor now that they are on the same playing field.
In addition to the scene of seeing two Torahs in action, the trailer offers our first look at the film’s main villain, Gore. Played by Christian Bale, Gore is also nicknamed the “Butcher God” and has traveled killing various gods in space after losing his family and people to a tragedy. Saving the gods is a high priority for the Tories, along with Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, in search of a queen to rule New Asgard. The trailer also offers us our first realistic look at the MCU version of the Olympians, including Russell Crowe as Zeus, giving our characters an even bigger supporting cast to play with now that Asgard and the Nine Kingdoms are behind us.
Overall, he looks like another winner for the glowing Waititi and is worth the ticket price at the theater. All you have to do now is wait until Thor: Love & Thunder comes out on July 8th. Check out the colorful new poster below.
