The RCMP is asking for public assistance in investigating a report of an attack and attempted hijacking of Highway 180 between Saint-Quentin and Bathurst.
According to an RCMP report, a woman was driving on the highway to Bathurst on Monday night, approximately 25 minutes past Saint-Quentin, when another woman alerted her and asked for help to change a tire.
Two men attacked the driver as she left her car, she said, and tried to get her into the van.
The woman said she got away from the men and returned to her car, but the van followed her for about six to eight minutes before turning and heading in the other direction.
The RCMP in the Chaleur area is looking for any video with a video camera that could show the van, which the woman described as white or light gray, involved in Monday night’s incident near Mount Carlton.
Anyone who has information about the incident or who was on Highway 180 near Saint-Quentin between 16:00 and 20:00 on Monday is asked to contact the regional RCMP Chaleur at 506-548-7771. The information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure mobile application P3 or via Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
