Beto O’Rourke, a former U.S. envoy to Texas and a Democratic presidential candidate, interrupted a press conference on the recent mass shooting at a school in the state to accuse government officials.
“You’re not doing anything,” said O’Rourke, who stood under the podium of the officials and pointed. “It’s completely predictable.”
An officer told O’Rourke three times, “You’re off the line,” as he spoke unheard of.

“Please leave the audience,” an official said. “I can’t believe it – you’re a sick dog that you will come to such a deal to make a political issue.
O’Rourke, a Democrat who is running for governor of Texas against Republican Greg Abbott, began yelling at officials after Abbott finished outlining the mental health resources available to those affected by the shooting.

The confrontation comes a day after an 18-year-old gunman barricaded himself in a classroom at Rob Elementary School in Uwalde, Texas, and killed 19 children and two adults.

O’Rourke was then kept away from the podium, but he could be heard saying, “It’s up to you,” as the crowd shouted, “Go home.”

Speaking to reporters outside the press conference, O’Rourke said: “We owe the actions of these parents. They want us to do something right away. I want to do something now. We can do something right now. But if we continue to accept this, it is in us, it is not only the governor’s fault, but ours as well. “

Prior to the break, Texas officials said the shooter had dropped out of high school and had no criminal or mental health. They said there was no meaningful warning about the shooting, only information posted on Facebook 30 minutes before reaching the school. The publication said he would shoot his grandmother, who is currently in hospital with serious injuries.
The US Congress has repeatedly failed to pass legislation to reduce gun violence in the country, prompting lawmakers and citizens to express irritation over the issue.
