“Blunt injuries” have been identified as the cause of death of the two men attacked in Edmonton’s Chinatown on May 18.
An autopsy on Tuesday confirmed that a 64-year-old Hung Trang service worker had died from head injuries and that his death had been determined to be murder, the Edmonton Police Department said on Wednesday.
Ban Fook Hoang, 61, who worked at a nearby electronics store, also died of blunt force injuries to his head and neck, EPS reported last Friday.
Justin Bone, 36, has been charged with second-degree murder in both deaths.
Family members of the two victims attended an Edmonton City Council meeting Tuesday to ask councilors and city officials to help make the Chinatown safer.
Bone is due to rule in Edmonton County Court on Friday at 9 a.m. to rule. He is also facing robbery charges and accused of failing to comply with the release order.
