If you’re having trouble accessing Instagram right now, you’re not the only one. Reports on the Internet (DownDetector, Reddit) mention problems with the Meta app more than just photos, with many people seeing screens saying they didn’t log in, blank image posts, “Welcome to Instagram” messages as if they had a brand new account or channels that stop loading after the first few photos. Many Verge employees see similar problems as they try to access Instagram.
So far, there seems to be no confirmation of a problem from Instagram, Facebook or their parent company. It seems that the interruption is not related to a specific area, and other services are still working. Netblocks network disruptors have noted that Instagram’s “recurring” problems are happening internationally, but there seems to be no large-scale blocking anywhere.

We also haven’t seen any of the Instagram app outage status reports it began testing shortly after last year’s massive Facebook outage, which could tell users about serious technical issues affecting the platform or its features.
