Heart attack: Risk factors may include pessimism – study

The British Heart Foundation said: “The key message is to seek health from your doctor if you are concerned about your mood or the mood of a loved one.

“Depression is common in the general population and even more so in people with physical problems.”

It is worth mentioning that while the link between pessimism seems to be linked to high levels of other risk factors for heart attack, there may be other components.

BHF added: “When pessimism was associated with depressive symptoms, there was a significant increase in further serious cardiac events (such as fatal heart attack, heart surgery or readmission with heart attack) compared to those with an optimistic attitude.
