Bo Hopkins died at 80, American graffiti actor from Wild Bunch

Hollywood actor Bo Hopkins, best known for his roles in films such as “American Graffiti” and “Wild Band”, has died at the age of 80.

The star’s death at a California hospital on Saturday came weeks after the actor suffered a heart attack.

Hopkins was confirmed by his wife Sian Hopkins, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The publication reported that Hopkins died in Van Nice, California, at Valley Presbyterian Hospital.

One of the actor’s earliest film roles was as Clarence “Crazy” Lee in Sam Peking’s 1969 film “The Wild Bunch.”

A few years later, in 1973, he appeared in George Lucas’ American Graffiti.

In this film, he plays the supporting role of Joe “Little Joe” Young, a band leader.

“Graffiti made people drag, go up and down the streets,” the actor told Shock Cinema magazine about the classic car movie.

“This again made people get in cars doing things like that.”

Decades later, the actor still appears at classic car shows as a result of his role in American graffiti and the film’s popularity among car lovers.

“If I tell you how many times people have come to me on these shows and tell us that we have changed their lives, you will not believe it,” he said in an interview with Shock Cinema.
