May 27, 2022 – Slinger, WI – Parents flocked to Slinger Middle School to pick up their children on Friday afternoon, May 27, 2022, following a tense situation over student gun reports. The school was blocked, along with an immediate response from law enforcement in the area. By 3 pm the parents had gathered with their children.
“I don’t even know how to feel,” Owen Masters said, hugging his 13-year-old son. “My anxiety is over the roof. I feel good to have it now … but it was just a nightmare.
“Every member of my family was crying, I was crying and it was hard not to know, and only the rumors made things much worse.”
Masters’ son confirmed that the entire class should be hidden under the teacher’s desk or in the closet. They were allowed to throw golf balls, and the students said that “everyone is just trying to calm each other down.”

“My son heard the same thing about being an active shooter at school. He’s pretty calm, but it’s just crazy, “said Masters.
Masters said his son was talking about monthly blockade training and noted that they had “prepared for something like this”.
Parents are waiting in line on Highway 60 in Lou’s Way while police monitor traffic. Authorities briefly closed Hwy 60 on Friday afternoon as parents made their way from the Kettle Moraine Bowl and then traveled to Slinger Middle School to pick up their children.
Students told their parents that a seventh-grade classmate was escorted out of school in handcuffs.

Richfield Fire Tony Burghardt announced that Slinger High School had been cleared and no one was injured after a tense situation after unconfirmed reports of a student with a gun.
Slinger School Board President Ken Strup, speaking one-on-one with WashingtonCountyInsider.com, said he spoke to police on the scene shortly before 1 p.m., and they said “the situation is under control.”

WASHINGTON SHERIFF UPDATE: Law enforcement officers responded to Slinger High School with a signal for a student with a gun. The suspect was detained. No one was injured. No weapons were found, but the school remained closed while the school was searched. Parents should meet in the Kettle Moraine Bowl. There is nothing more at the moment.
EMERGENCY REQUEST: Slinger High School is currently blocked. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA. Updates will be published when they become available. We have no further information at this time.
