Police called both stabbings “shocking and serious” and warned that such violence would not be tolerated.

This comes after a man was stabbed to death in front of a curry house in Oldham in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police then arrested a 31-year-old man for questioning in connection with the incident.
Superintendent Detective Kate Atton of the Greater Manchester Police Department (GMP) said: “We have seen such a shocking and serious act of violence this weekend that involved using a knife on the streets of Oldham and it will not be tolerated.

“As the investigation continues at a rapid pace to understand the circumstances behind it – and the person in charge – we are also determined to do everything in our power to prevent further similar incidents from taking place in our city.
“That is why in the area of Gloduick and in the city center, increased powers of stopping and searching have been introduced to allow employees to prevent anyone who carries a weapon from walking our streets.
