Toronto Trafficking Investigation: Three Men Arrested

Toronto police have announced the arrest of three men in a more than six-month investigation into human trafficking involving an 18-year-old girl.

Officials said the investigation began more than six months ago on October 25th. In a statement on Saturday, they claimed that a 17-year-old girl from Edmonton had been recruited and taken to Toronto to work in the sex trade after she turned 18.

For more than eight days, officials said the girl had been sexually trafficked in Toronto hotels and a house. Police added that she was also forced to sell illegal drugs.

They said the money she made during that time was then turned over. A 38-year-old woman was also attacked during the trafficking.

Police carried out a search warrant and found illegal drugs in Toronto.

Thirty-year-old Jonathan “Yogi” Wald from Toronto was arrested on November 11, 2021 and faces 14 charges, some of which include trafficking in persons under the age of 18 through the collection and possession of cocaine, fentanyl and heroin for trafficking.

The day before Wald’s arrest, 28-year-old Khalid Mohammed from Toronto was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, in addition to two counts of sexual assault.

Thirty-two-year-old Abilaziz Mohammed of Toronto was arrested on Friday and charged with trafficking in control and assault, causing bodily harm.

Police are concerned that there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the police at 416-808-7474 or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
