Owner Evangelos Marinakis has vowed that the raise is “just the beginning” for Nottingham Forest.
The Reds ended their 23-year absence from the championship after triumphing 1-0 over Huddersfield Town in the final of the playoffs at the Wembley Championship. And the achievement marks the realization of Marinakis’ ambition for the club.
Since taking office in May 2017, the Greek has been aiming to return to the Premier League. Five years later, his dream came true, with boss Steve Cooper succeeding where many others before him failed.

Marinakis was at the national stadium to witness the culmination of a remarkable season, lifting the trophy and taking the time to congratulate the manager, as well as some of the coaching staff and players. On social media, he paid tribute to the Welshman, along with CEO Dane Murphy, football director Kyriakos Durekas and his son Miltiadis, who has taken on a bigger role in running the club this season.
Marinakis wrote: “Nottingham Forest is back where it belongs after 23 long years. We are back in @premierleague!
“I am extremely proud of everyone at the club for this historic achievement. I am grateful for the fantastic support from our fans who have proven that we are a solid #NFFC family.
“Personally, I would like to congratulate coach Steve Cooper and his team, who have done a fantastic job since taking office, the leadership, Dane, Kulis and my son @ mil7iadis, who has played a significant role in the club’s turnaround this year. From today we strive to rewrite history and win more trophies! This is just the beginning of RED. #Believe #WeKeepOnDreaming @officialnffc ”
