Greene King ax plans for 6p pints and distributes them for FREE instead

GREENE King has given up its plans to sell 6p pints to celebrate the Queen’s anniversary – and will be giving them away for FREE instead.

The pub chain has announced that it will offer pints for pennies for one day only today, Monday, May 30.

It says that customers can get a mug at the same price as it was in 1952, when the queen first took the throne.

But now he will distribute alcohol for free, because he is not allowed to sell pints at that price under licensing laws.

A Greene King spokesman said: “We will now give the jubilee first pint of Greene King IPA for free today, as we now understand that it is not allowed under the license agreement to charge 6p.”

The same rules for getting your bargain apply as before – you’ll need to know the secret code.

Buyers must say “1952” when ordering at the bar to take advantage of the deal.

This is because this is the year of the royal coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

Visitors can get a mug of Greene King IPA at one of the band’s 408 local pubs or Flaming Grill sites.

You will only be able to ask for one pint per person and must be 18 years of age or older.

You can find out where your nearest Greene King branch is using the chain’s pub location tool.

The usual price of an IPA pint varies depending on where you order, but 6p is significantly cheaper than the average price per cup.

This is not the only time Green King has been handing out mugs to thirsty customers.

He offered free Guinness pints to merchants who visited the St. Patrick’s Day chain – but to get one, you had to buy a meat dinner.

He also offered free mugs last June to celebrate the country’s reopening after the blockade and the European tournament.

The free mug will help traders save money as they face more money to drink in the pub.

Buyers have already been warned that the price of a pint could reach £ 7 this year.

There have also recently been concerns about a shortage of beer this summer, amid workers’ strikes and a shortage of glass.
