The awakening took place for the victim of a shooting at Uwalde School, Texas, Ameri Joe Garza

The first emotional awakening for one of the 21 victims of the Texas school massacre took place on Monday.

Little Ameri Joe Garza – who called 911 for help when she was shot dead by crazy 18-year-old shooter Salvador Ramos – was remembered for waking up one day at the Hillcrest Memorial in Uwalde.

The fourth-grader turned 10 just two weeks before she was killed in a massacre last week at Rob Elementary School in Uwalde. She is due to be buried on Tuesday.

Ameri Garza Garza was 10 years old two weeks before the shooting in Uwalde.

Her stepfather, medical technician Angel Garza, was caring for another victim when he learned that the girl he raised as his own was among the dead, his mother told People magazine.

“He helped children,” Berlinda Areola said of her son.

She said he was told the tragic news of his stepdaughter when another student, covered in blood, told him it was Ameri’s blood on her.
