(CNN) – A glass-bottomed trail in Vietnam, which opened to much public fanfare in April, has been named the world’s longest bridge of its kind by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The previous record for the world’s longest glass-bottomed bridge was held by a 1,726-foot structure in Guangdong, China.
Located in the rural mountainous region of the province of Son La in northwestern Vietnam, Bach Long Bridge connects visitors with a popular mountain resort and offers spectacular panoramic views of lush tropical rainforests.
Suspended approximately 492 feet above the ground and 2,073 feet long, the glass bridge was a joint collaboration between local tourism authorities and a French construction company to revive tourism, badly affected by the global pandemic when the country closed its borders to international visitors.
It is said to be strong enough to support up to 450 people at once. A jeep had recently been driven over him to test his strength.

Guinness World Records officials certified the bridge over the weekend, local media reported. This is the third glass bridge built in Vietnam. In 2018, another spectacular mountain pedestrian bridge, held by a pair of huge stone hands, made world titles after opening its doors in the Ba Na hills region of Central Vietnam.
