Live updates as the multi-vehicle crash closes the A38 in Derbyshire

Update on the Derbyshire police statement

A statement we have just received from the Derbsihair police states: “We were called shortly before 8:30 a.m. for a collision alert near the Watchorn roundabout on the north lane of the A38. The collision is believed to have affected two vehicles. “

“The south lane was briefly closed to allow emergency services access to the scene.”

“Officers closed the A38 to the north at the Hartshay roundabout for a short time to reduce the accumulation of A38 traffic to allow drivers between Hartshay and Watchorn to divert back to the A38 on Watchorn Island.

“There may be some delay while emergency services are present at the scene and while recovery is taking place.

“At the moment, we do not believe that anyone has suffered any serious injuries.
