The Minister cannot transform “universally understood” imperial measures News

A government minister has failed to convert imperial measurements to metrics, although number 10 suggests the system is “universally understood.”

Lord Parkinson of Whitley Bay, the Minister of the Arts, was asked by Sky News after it was announced that consultations would begin on the further inclusion of imperial measurements in Britain after Brexit.

№ 10 insisted yesterday that imperial measurements are universally understood in the United Kingdom, although the metric system has been taught in schools since 1974.

Parkinson, 39, was asked how many ounces he had in a pound. He said 14 ounces, but the answer was 16. He was then asked how many grams of sausage he would get if he ordered a pound, and he answered 250 grams. The correct answer is 450 g.
