The successor to the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go is leaking through a retailer

Microsoft seems ready to announce an updated version of its compact Surface Laptop Go, if early registration of a Korean retailer is to be believed.

The biggest change with the Surface Laptop Go 2 seems to be its newer 11th generation Intel processor (i5-1135G7), which replaces the 10th generation model found in the original 2020 laptop. The Go 2 will ship with Windows 11 this time, and Google Translate on the retailer’s website says its webcam will have “improved HD camera performance.” Pre-orders will open on June 2, so the official announcement may not be far off. WinFuture previously announced that the laptop may have a starting price of $ 650.

Otherwise, the new laptop looks very similar to its predecessor. It still has a 12.4-inch display with a 3: 2 aspect ratio, the same choice of ports (USB-A, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack and port for Microsoft’s own charger) and a sensor for fingerprint, which is still built into the power button of selected models. There is no trace of a backlit keyboard, which was a pathetic omission in the first Laptop Go.

The retailer’s list suggests that it will come with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, as last time, but it is less clear what the specifications of its base model will be. The original Surface Laptop Go started at 4GB / 64GB, but a previous report from WinFuture suggested that this version could start with 128GB of memory. According to the list of retailers, Laptop Go 2 is estimated to offer 13.5 hours of use on a single charge.

Surface Laptop Go is marketed as an affordable entry into Microsoft’s Surface range of laptops and is designed to compete with Chromebooks, which are popular with students. But we were less than impressed with the original model, which offered limited specifications and features at an uncompetitive price.
