Police rushed to the Waterbee recreation area today (June 1st) after a hand grenade was found. Two police cordons were on the scene for about two hours as officers investigated.
A cordon was set up on Cambridge Road and police diverted traffic from the area as the road was closed. People were also asked to stay indoors.
A second cordon was set up around the recreation areas near the skate park.
Police at the scene told CambridgeshireLive that the device was not a live device and they would remove the cordons. A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said they had taken precautions and sent a bomb disposal team, saying: “Officers were present at the scene and liaised with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EOD).
